What is Kizomba?

The 3 main dance styles in the Kizomba Genre are: Kizomba, Kiz Fusion, & Urban Kiz. All three styles rely on connection & lead & follow principals. The beauty of all these styles comes from the flow & energy of this connection. This is the magic you can see & feel when you watch people dance.

What is Social Dancing?

Social dances are dances that have a social function and context. Social dances are intended for participation rather than performance. They are often danced merely to socialise and for entertainment, though they may have ceremonial, competitive and performance functions

Why Dance Kizomba?

Upbeat – The moves aren’t complex. The technique is to keep moving with the beat and as you do so, the feeling is totally invigorating and elating.
Challenging – whilst the kizomba basic steps are not complex, that doesn’t mean the dance is easy. The challenge is to stay connected to your partner, so that you move as one.
Romantic – when you are doing the kizomba in the right way, there should be no gap between you and your partner. If you love getting up close and personal whilst moving with exciting and sensual music, then this is the perfect dance.

What I need to Wear/Bring?

You may want to consider wearing a skirt or dress that's flowy, leggings, fitted jeans or pants that are made from a stretchy fabric. Another great idea is yoga pants or capris, as they will allow you to move around easily. Be sure to avoid clothing that is tight or restrictive, as it will make it difficult to dance.

Footwear can be sneakers, shoes or heels but make sure you can easily move in them!
